V  Introduction of the "Cranberry" hymnals

  •    Introduce throughout 2012

  •    Purchase hymnal for each member of Worship for discussions

  •    Currently Setting 6 = our Setting 2 (Green Hymnal)

  •    Currently Setting 5 = our Setting 1 (Green Hymnal)

V  Lent

  •     February 22nd - Ash Wednesday - 4:15 and 7:00 services - Psalm 51- use again Maundy Thursday

  •     Lutheran Pastors will meet to see if Pulpit Exchange will be possible

  •    Themes - Psalms - Different types of Prayers - Jubalatory and Lament

  •    Ask members to share about the prayers they offer

  •    "Do something extra" during Lent

  •    Worship will pair with Property Team for Lenten supper

  •    Use of Setting 1 the first Sunday in Lent

  •    Tenebrae by St. John's Choir?

V  Review of Advent/Christmas 2011

  •    The Hymn Sing was well received - would like to see it done more often

  •    Suggestion to have a service on Christmas Day every year

  •    New Year's Eve attendance was good

  •    Christmas Eve - auditorium needs to be decorated - Property will handle this

  •    Add team to Auditorium for Holy Communion

  •    At the 4:00 service, eight ushers are needed

  •    Fire Marshall - no chairs are permitted to be placed in aisles

  •    Ushers need to set up chairs by 9:30 pm for 10:30 service

  •    It needs to be communicated that the 10:30 service starts at 10:00 with a half hour Brass

  •    Technology Team continues to work on the Sound System for the Auditorium

  •    Children's programs went well - discussion of taping and placing on DVD - sell copies

V  April -Young people will do the service - would like to locate the service written by Pastor Kramer and Pastor Gary - service is written so that a 6th grader can easily understand all the parts of the service

V Forward Planning-reminder regarding results of Survey

  •         Areas of concentration-Leadership and Building Relationships

  •         Reminder to Committee to "think outside the box" as to how this committee can enhance these areas-welcome individuals into the Family of St. John's

  •         Work on each individual service as each service has unique qualities to build upon

  •         Enhanced use of technology-videotaping/use of screen when applicable

  •         Placement of screen in Lobby to run announcements, etc. on a continual basis

  •         "Thank you" from Forward Planning-doing a good job addressing areas

           

V Christmas Day and New Years' Day Services

  •     Screen to be used-DVD's

  •      Christmas Day will utilize a pre-printed Worship Service based upon a special Christmas Carol

  •       December 31st is the "Naming of our Lord" and New Years' Day service will focus on what are the names of Christ.  This will be a Service of Lessons and Carols, video clips will be used, bringing the Christmas season to a close.

 

V Hymn sings will begin next week-12/10.  There will be no Kyrie or Hymn of Praise when Hymn sings are being utilized.

 

V Technology Team is working on camera placement/screens/wiring completion in the Auditorium.  This will allow additional seating especially for overflow situations.

 

V Discussion focused on the possibility of varying the Settings used throughout the year.  It was suggested by the Committee to vary the settings as had been done in the past (quite a few years ago).

 

V  It was suggested by the Committee to also consider the Canticles for various times of the Church year.

 

V Further discussion continued regarding the introduction of the ELW to the Congregation.  Introducing this hymnal at the Annual Meeting was given as a possibility. 

 

V There will be no December meeting.
