THANK YOUS - Thank you's were received from Christian Needs Center, Mid-Sioux, Council on Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence, Oakdale School-Oklahoma and Mid-East Development
BENEVOLENCE GIVING: 2011 Benevolence giving totaled more than $3,000 more than 2010.
ADOPT A FAMILY: Christian Needs Center reported some problems with the adoption of members of families in which all the gifts requested were not purchased and delivered. They estimated approximately $800 was needed to fulfill the requests of the families. St. John's was unable to provide additional funding. All the monies collected for the program was spent on purchases for the families who had not been adopted. Approximately $60 was spent on each person. Prior to Christmas next year the Christian Needs Center will conduct an information meeting for churches participating in the Adopt a Family Program to clarify the rules and responsibilities. The committee will consider adopting fewer families in order to meet our obligations.
CONTRIBUTIONS TO CSADV AND MID-SIOUX: December - CSADV - $292 MID-SIOUX - $143 Total contributions for 2011 - Mid Sioux - $1694 CSADV - $3479.
HAITI SCHOOL Kathy reported the director's health has improved and the school is coming out of its difficulties.
KIDS AGAINST HUNGER (FEED JUST ONE). On February 22 from 11:00 - 8:30 in the Auditorium food will be packaged to ship to Haiti. Catechism students will package food from 7:00 - 8:30 as part of their service project. Volunteers are need all throughout the day. Announcement of the project will be published in the bulletin and newsletter.
LUTHERAN MIDEAST DEVELOPMENT: Nathan reminded us to keep them in our prayers. They continue to have safety issues due to the after-shocks of the earthquake.
MEALS ON WHEELS: Volunteers are still needed to deliver Meals on Wheels. Requests have been made at the church services, in the bulletin and the newsletter. Lynn suggested we prepare instructions for coordinators and volunteers prior to the next month St. John's is responsible for delivery.

THANK YOUS - Nathan read a thank you correspondence received from the Christian Needs Center. St. John's also received a thank you from Bishop Last for our contributions for the girl's school and the well projects.
ST. JOHN'S SPECIAL ASSISTANCE FUND Pastor Gary told of a person in need of assistance whom St. John's helped with our special fund. The gentleman returned and reimbursed the congregation. He was insistent that he be allowed to help too.
ADOPT A FAMILY: Approximately 30 individuals remain to be adopted. The catechism students will shop for these people this week using the money donated to the program from St John's members and Thrivent contributions. Committee members will check in the gifts next Sunday and deliver them to Mid Sioux and the Christian Needs Center on Monday, December 12.
REQUEST FOR FUNDS The following are requests for funds: The Bridge - Women of the ELCA are sending a contribution. Also a contribution from the Endowment Fund will be made to The Bridge Lutheran Mideast Development- Numerous requests are being made due to the damage from the earthquake. The need will be noted in the church bulletin to alert the congregation. Grandparent Counseling program - no action
NOISY OFFERING: The noisy offering will continue on the 5th Sunday of the month beginning in January 2012. The January offering will be donated to the girl's school in Haiti.
NOVEMBER CONTRIBUTIONS TO CSADV AND MID-SIOUX: CSADV - $287 MID-SIOUX - $210
MEALS ON WHEELS The Women of the ELCA will not be able to continue to coordinate the Meals on Wheels Program. St. John's is responsible for meal delivery for the month of January. The Outreach Committee is the logical committee to assume this responsibility. The duty entails enlisting help to deliver the meals, contacting the workers to ensure they will be there for delivery and personally supervising the pickups each day. Pastor Gary has discussed the project with Marcia who may have volunteers for the project. If no volunteers are available the Outreach Committee members may have to sign up for some of these duties for January.
GROCERY CART THEMES FOR 2012 JANUARY - "SOUPER BOWL" - Soups of all kinds, crackers etc. FEBRUARY - "Be Sweet to your heart" - All kinds of heart healthy foods MARCH - "St Patrick's Fare" - Any green food APRIL - "Showers" - Any personal care item, soap, shampoo etc. MAY - "Flowers" - Baking goods, flour, sugar, baking powder etc. JUNE - "Summer Snacks" - Fruit bars, nuts etc. JULY - "Remembering Independence" - Any red white or blue food AUGUST - "State Fair Purple Ribbon - Best of Show" - Any great food item SEPTEMBER - "Football Kickoff" - Mustard, ketchup etc OCTOBER - "Fall Clean Up" - Any cleaning supply NOVEMBER - "Fruits of the Harvest" - Any fruit or vegetable etc. DECEMBER - "White Christmas" - Any food that is white , flour, rice etc.
HAITI SCHOOL Kathy reported news of serious difficulties in the school at Haiti. The director is having health issues that have greatly interfered with the ongoing management of the school and the residents. Many times girls are without enough food to eat. Efforts are being made to send food to the school for the girls. Brunsville church has contributed generously to the effort. Kathy asked if we might consider hosting a benefit in February to help with the hunger need.
CSADV AND MID-SIOUX DELIVERIES Elvira will be gone during February and asked if other committee members would deliver the donations to these organizations. Several members volunteered. We will coordinate this in January.

CATECHISM GUEST: Rachel Kehrberg introduced herself. Nathan welcomed her and explained the mission of the Outreach Committee
ADOPT A FAMILY: St John's will participate in the Adopt a Family Program by adopting 70 individuals - 30 individuals from the Christian Needs Center and 40 individuals from Mid-Sioux. Congregation sign up will be Thanksgiving weekend and the following weekend. Volunteers will be at a table for all services to assist with the process. The gifts are to be returned to St John's by December 13th and will be delivered to Christian Needs Center and Mid-Sioux
NOISY OFFERING: The collection was almost $400.
OCTOBER CONTRIBUTIONS TO CSADV AND MID-SIOUX: CSADV - $328 MID-SIOUX - $121
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE-WELCOME BASKET PROPOSAL: The Chamber is revising their Welcome Basket and is allowing each non-profit organization to pay a fee of $20 and submit promotional materials from their organization to place in the "Basket". The committee approved the $20 fee. Exact contents to submit for the basket will be determined later.
FORWARD PLANNING REPRESENTATIVE: Steve Powell, representing the Forward Planning Committee, reviewed the committee's goal to promote St. John's and develop loving relationships. He presented some ideas and asked the Outreach Committee for assistance and support in achieving the goals. Joining the Chamber's "Welcome Basket" is one step in this direction. Other assistance can be placed on the business agenda.
CSADV: Due to extreme budget cuts the organization is asking St. John's to assist with fund raising advertising. An appeal will be placed in the bulletin and the brochures explaining the poinsettia and candy sales will be available in the lobby.
2012 BUDGET: Due to the increased cost of newspaper advertising the committee approved an increase of $300 to the Promotion and Advertising line item of the Outreach Team Budget. The total for this line item will be $1600 for 2012. After discussion all the other line items will remain the same as 2011 as well as the recipients for benevolence and their percent of the gifts. CAD REPORT: Mark and Iris reported on the meeting. The project is progressing very well. The 4-H organization is participating in the project. Much good is happening. The girls dormitory is being rebuilt for 480 students. The well project has completed 59 wells but needs more funding. The contributions from the meeting did not meet expectations but there is hope that more funds will be given in the near future. The goal of CAD is to become self sustaining.
DAMASCUS ROAD PRISON MINISTRY: Mark reported on the visit to the Rockwell City Prison Congregation. The committee discussed the future possibility of fostering an inmate when released from prison. Pastor Gary explained that a congregation has to meet certain requirements.
CHRISTIAN NEED CENTER: The Christian Needs Center has a great need for canned food items. $100 from the Local Hunger Concerns budget item will be sent as a check to the Christian Needs Center for these items.

THANK YOU'S: ELCA World Hunger, Lutheran Bible Translators, Navajo Evangelical Lutheran Mission
REQUESTS FOR FUND: CSADV-Federal contributions will be cut more than 10% and the council is asking for additional support from St. John's. Society for St. Andrew - Support for programs to feed the hungry.
CHRISTIAN NEEDS CENTER: The hours have been extended. The Adult Sunday School Class may visit the center.
LUTHERAN MIDEAST DEVELOPMENT: Nathan is serving on the Lutheran Mideast Development Board. He will attend the "Musical Gala" fund raising event which will be held this Thursday evening in Minneapolis.
NOISY OFFERING: The noisy offering will be collected on the 5th Sunday in October.

DAMASCUS ROAD PRISON MINISTRY The Annual Meeting will be held in Rockwell City on November 13th and St. John's members are invited.
BENEVOLENCE Benevolence contributions for the 1st - 3rd quarters of 2011 were reviewed. Giving has decreased slightly. (see attached) Approximately $200 dollars contributed to LBT by St. John's members in response to the "Match Challenge" isn't reflected in the report.
BUDGET FOR 2012 Nathan asked members of the committee to begin planning for developing the committee budget at the November meeting.
MEALS ON WHEELS Currently St. John's responsibility for "Meals on Wheels" is a circle duty. The circle members are dwindling and aging and need more help and assistance from the congregation. Pastor Gary suggested members be educated about what meals on wheels is and what the volunteers responsibility are. Kay Allen will ask the Women of the ELCA coordinator to provide the information to Kim for the November Newsletter.
