St. John's Lutheran Church Green Team May 20, 2010
Present: Pastor Greg Gabriel, Karen Schroeder
1. We discussed including Green Team promotions in Sunday School openings. Can Green Team projects be incorporated into the Sunday school schedule? Can the Sunday School make it a point to sing creation songs periodically?
2. Try a "green corner" at church for literature. For example: offer information about how and where to get a composter.
3. How did "No Car Sunday" fare? Should we call attention to it in the worship services? Some people walked to church. Should we try this again in the fall?
4. Soles4Souls update: We had a lot of shoes! Margie Pigg took a pickup load to Sheldon.
5. Karen and Kay have been picking up recyclable items in blue bags in the resource room and in the kitchen. We have more items there recently than in the past.
6. We discussed the Green Team presentation at the Synod Assembly. try a monthly newsletter article. Someday contribute to annual report.
7. Next meeting will be on Thursday, June 17. Let's take off the month of July.
8. Let's talk about carbon footprints at our next meeting.
