CONFEST
WITH
BISHOP LAST

On October 7, St. John's hosted a Confest with Bishop Last. We

had approximately 240 catechism students from around the Western

Iowa Synod join us for an evening of food, fellowship and learning.

The evening started with a light supper, served by St. John's catechism

students and adult volunteers.  The students then met in the Sanctuary

for instruction on the evenings theme, "Prayer".  Half of the kids went down

to the basement to make Lutheran Prayer Beads.  Then the kids went to

individual learning centers, that showed us the many different ways you

can incorporate prayer into your daily life and who we should be praying for.

The other half of the group stayed in the Sanctuary to hear from Bishop

Last.  The Bishop spoke about prayer and the many ways he has used and

been affected by prayer throughout his years in the ministry.  The two groups

switched places so everyone was able to participate in all the events.  For

closing, all came together in the Sanctuary for a time of music, led by Donna,

Allyn and St. John's Catechism Music Leaders.  Finally, we shared in a

service of prayer and reflection.
