"Be Doers of the Word, and Not Hearers Only"

Our theme for February is "4 the of Christ, Random Acts of Kindness".  Stop by the lobby and draw a slip of paper with an idea of how you can show kindness to someone.  Some ideas are:  pick a name from the phone book and send them an anonymous note that they are appreciated, leave some change at a phone booth, hold the door open for a stranger, drop off a teddy bear at the police department so they can distribute this to someone in need, bring some cookies to a neighbor or shovel your neighbors driveway.  There are plenty more ideas and we're sure you can come up with some of your own. 

After you have spread your "Christian love", jot down what you did and return the note to the basket in the lobby.  It will be fun to see how many people have "shown their love" and how they have chosen "to be kind".

Here is a list of some of the "Random Acts of Kindness":

    !Brought fresh baked cookies to a nursing home resident for her afternoon coffee.

    !Brought groceries to a shut-in.

    !Picked up groceries for my neighbor who has been sick.

    !I gave food to someone that does not have much food and was hungry.

    !Called a friend from many years ago just to say "hi".

    !Started and warmed up my sister's car.

    !Gave my sandwich to my Dad.

    !Telephoned a friend who was in a hospital in a faraway town.

    !Gave notes to each of the Council Members and Pastors.

    !Donated to the Goodwill.

    !Gave Valentines to those not expecting it.

    !Held the door open for a group of elderly women.

    !Let my neighbor's dog out for her when she had to work late.

    !Helped a member from church out to her car.  The parking lot is very icy.

    !Had a classmate sit with my family in church when their family wasn't there.

    !Visitation to support a daughter.

LET'S KEEP THE KINDNESS GOING ALL YEAR LONG!!!!
